Great features but too much weaknesses - 27 Oct 2006

DVD: it would be OK if it didn't hang, mostly when navigating through DVD's menu.
There is no way to "zoom" on 4/3 letterboxed DVDs, so for such DVDs you'll have to view top, bottom, left and right black bars.
Pixels are visible, 480x234 isn't enough for 7" (for reference, my PDA is 640x480 on a 3.5" screen only).
Anyway, picture is decent, probably in the upper average of similar portable devices, but still far away from common LCD TVs.
DVB-T: picture flickers a bit but it's OK.
Provided antenna is a joke. Reception seems good with a decent antenna.
The sound is plagued by an unpleasant noisy background. I guess it's an electrical ground fault.
Connection between tuner and screen is NOT digital (composite video). I don't understand why such an all in one supposed 100% digital device is still using analogue transports.
Music and Pictures on USB key: I have two keys, 256Mb and 512Mb. The 256Mb hasn't been recognized.
Browsing through folders is paintfull. On mine, pressing on "enter" or "play" keys on the remote is "invalid". I'm still trying to find how to view pictures or listen music.
USB is 1.1 compliant only, definitively obsolete and too slow.
SD memory reader, and CD-R or DVD-R: I didn't try yet. I hope browsing is better and functional, not like with USB key.
Overall, the picture is decent and quite pleasant on a wide horizontal angle. Don't expect good contrast or color fidelity though.
The sound is too weak, I doubt it would be possible to hear anything on a car (didn't try yet). You may give some earphones to your children as a workaround, I mean to one of them as there is only one speaker output. Well, if your autoradio has a line-in, you may connect it the line-out of the player.
Finally, great features, decent picture, but too much weaknesses and bugs to be a recommendable product.
