Nice looking unit, on installation works well but the next day I noticed the display was showing "GUIDE" (page 52 of manual explains this)whilst this is on the unit will not respond to any control commands I have to switch it off and on at the mains to reboot it. rang Panasonic tech(01344 862444) and was told it is a software problem and they would send me a disc to upgrade the software, waiting to see results but I have been assured this will solve the problem.
Not the best start for a new product albeit last years model.

The upscaling quality is excellent, the sound quality for DD 5.1 and DTS is superb, but the real bonus for me was that it played Region 1 DVDs right out of the box. That was really unexpected, I thought I'd have to "hack" it to make that happen.

Brillient piece of equipment. I have put on DVD all my photos from my iPOD. Also I have linked with my VCR and recorded all my old videos of my water skiing years. I have recorder recent video camera tapes onto one DVD therefore freeing up tapes to record again. Having everything on DVD is excellent as you only need to take DVD disc to family and friends houses instead of connecting up video camera or iPOD with their TV.

a three year old kid could work this buet!! hassel free no problems just what i needed, i had a LG that was a nightmare compared to this one

This is a great DVD recorder and very good value for money. It's been very simple to use and after months of constant use, I have no complaints.
The built in freeview gives both higher quality and a more consistent signal than my previous stand alone box and the menu is intuitive and easy to use, expecially for recording.
Recording is as easy as a single button press once you've chosen the show you want. The recorder reads all kinds of discs and prompts you to format them when they require it. You can even create menus for your recordings through the recorder.
Overall, I've been highly impressed with both the performance and ease of use, and I would recommend this as by far the best product in it's price range.
