This is by far the worst piece of consumer electronics I've ever bought. Firstly it's failed three times already and I'm just about to take it back again because I've just discovered it won't record anything to DVD. Even when working, it's the most painful, slow and badly designed product I've had the misfortune to buy. Just switching it on is agony while you wait about 2 minutes for it to warm up. It goes downhill from there. Don't buy it!

How this machine made it passed Philips testing I will never know, but please do not waste your money on it. Even trying to eject a Disk from the player is itself a heavy task. The Display comes up with Blocked 3 to 4 times before finally after you have pressed Eject for the fifth time (which takes about 2 minutes doing so) the player finally decides to give up and return your disk to you. Junk is the only way to describe this machine.

i receaved my philips today all hapy go luck until i connected my digi box and my sky box.
then i started to press record and on every channel it said copyprotected and would lock up unless i press the select button to shut it down and it would not record.
so i put a new philips dvd-r disc in the machine press record and it crashed saying faulty disc and then shutting down and on and off then i pulled the plug and tried another rand of disc.
this time it said error faulty disc and ejected it.
i also tried recording straight to hard drive and still no good and when it did work it would lock up for 2 minutes before giving me control back
when you pause live tv or go back 10 seconds it stalls and hangs the unit for 8 minutes then stops and switches off
and the best bit is if you go and press record and go our the light comes on red and you think its recording and when you come back and press stop it errors and says copy protected program and does not record.
also wen you get it there is no video plus as stated their is but you get a note saying not on uk versions.
a rubbish machine poor service bad build quality very wide and noisy and hardly any recording control.
